Terms of Service

Effective Date: October 22, 2024
Last Updated: October 22, 2024

We're an early-stage open-source project (week 1). These terms are basic templates. Once we have legal counsel and form our Public Benefit Corporation, we'll update them properly.

The Reality

We're week 1 of building the Philosophical AI Framework in public. These terms are straightforward and honest about where we are. Once we have proper legal counsel and form our Public Benefit Corporation, we'll update them with comprehensive legal review.

Using This Website

What You Can Do:

  • Browse the website and learn about our framework
  • Join our community (Discord, GitHub)
  • Sign up for beta access and newsletters
  • Use the open-source code (under AGPL v3 license)
  • Contribute to the project
  • Provide feedback and suggestions

What You Can't Do:

  • Hack, attack, or attempt to compromise the site
  • Spam our forms or community channels
  • Impersonate others or provide false information
  • Use the service for anything illegal
  • Violate our community guidelines (when established)

The Open Source Code (AGPL v3)

Our core framework is open source under the AGPL v3 license. This means:

  • You can use, modify, and distribute the code
  • If you modify and distribute it, you must share your changes
  • If you run it as a service, you must provide the source code to users
  • Full license terms: GitHub LICENSE file

Beta Program

If you join our beta program:

  • It's free for 6 months (first 10 companies)
  • It's provided "as-is" (early software has bugs)
  • We'll ask for feedback to improve the product
  • You can quit anytime, no questions asked
  • We may use your feedback to improve the product
  • Case study participation is optional

No Warranties

This is early-stage software built by a small team. We're building in public and learning as we go. We provide the service "as-is" without warranties. Expect bugs, downtime, and changes. We'll do our best, but we can't guarantee perfection.

Liability

Use our service at your own risk. We're not liable for damages, data loss, or other issues that might arise. This is standard legal protection for software services, especially early-stage ones.

Community Guidelines

We're building a respectful, inclusive community. Basic rules:

  • Be respectful and professional
  • No harassment, discrimination, or hate speech
  • Stay on topic in discussions
  • Help others when you can
  • Follow platform-specific rules (GitHub, Discord)

Intellectual Property

The open-source code is under AGPL v3. The website content, branding, and non-code materials are owned by the Philosophical AI Framework project. If you contribute code or content, you grant us the right to use it in the project.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may change as we grow and learn. We'll notify beta participants and community members of major changes. For minor updates, we'll update the "Last Updated" date above.

Termination

You can stop using our service anytime. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms, but we'll try to work things out first. The open-source code remains available regardless.

Governing Law

Once we form our Public Benefit Corporation, we'll specify jurisdiction. For now, these terms are governed by common sense and good faith. If there's a dispute, let's talk it out.

Our Commitment

We're building this framework to serve all stakeholders, not just shareholders. These terms reflect that philosophy - they're fair, transparent, and designed to protect both users and the project. As we grow, we'll maintain this approach.

Legal Note

These are basic terms for our early-stage project. Proper legal terms will be drafted with legal counsel once our Public Benefit Corporation structure is finalized. We'll notify all users of any significant changes.
